I have recently be researching Chinese culture. I have been pulling numerous books and articles that speak of Chinese beliefs, culture and political policy. I became more interested recently as my 13 year-old daughter plans on attending a Chinese language camp this summer. Anyway, I was reading the posted articles on Chinese philosophies and religion. I have always believed that basically the Chinese were a peaceful culture. This is indicated in your articles. However, more recently I have read more negative things. Many of them in result of the one-child policy. Several authors suggest that human rights are limited in this area and that China is now raising what is referred to as \"little emperors\". According to these authors- China is changing drastically. That children are becoming indulged and quit frankly, maybe even more self-absorbed than the Western culture. Reports from teachers in the region are complaining about children who have no coping skills and are not at all comparable to their parents who lived through and managed hard times. One article in particular had essays written by Chinese teenagers and their hopes for the future and what they thought the future would bring. Several of the essays were quit hatefully worded, stating ways in which they would plan to obtain certain borders, including the United States. I found this odd. Is this the case? What is the major like in China right now?
